Pieter Performance Space is thrilled to announce our newest Executive Director, Rosalie Tucker (she/they)

Rosalie's strong and long lasting commitment as a Black Queer person centers  working for and with others in community who are often excluded from dance spaces, particularly queer, trans, disabled, and Black people; their history and familiarity with Pieter’s organizational culture; and many years of participation in the Los Angeles dance community make us excited to have them carry on Pieter’s mission of creating a home for all people to dance, create and heal together.

Rosalie’s organizational praxis in directing support to Black, queer and trans folx are reflected in all areas of their work and life, including most recently  developing a mutual-aid program that provided free food, groceries and direct financial aid to Queer BIPOC community from 2020-2022. Additionally, their experience collaborating with other organizers under the name Undoing Racism LA (URLA)  to assist with the facilitation of anti-racism training sessions and workshops for Southern California Arts Organizations, will help to elevate the work of the Justice Accountability and Safety (JAS) club at Pieter.

Rosalie has extensive managerial expertise and program development skills from working in Museum settings for over a decade, including as the Head of School and Teacher Programs at  the Skirball Cultural Center and as Visitor Experience and Education Director at the Cayton Children's Museum. Her attuned skills, set to staff management and support will bolster Pieter’s organizational foundations moving into the second year of our physical studio space. Rosalie’s grant writing and fundraising experience as Managing Director for B. Dunn Movement and grant writer for Dance Resource Center, Critical Mass Dance Company and others is vital for Pieter as the organization continues to grow our grant and fundraising opportunities.

Pieter is thrilled to uplift Rosalie and continue working towards an expansive idea of what dancing, community and space can be.
