Deep Relaxation Workshop with TRE® and Yoga Nidra
Join us for a very special workshop combining two body-based practices for tension release and deep relaxation. Led by Nkem Ndefo, RN, and Ayurvedic Practitioner Rita Burgos, this three-hour session will give you tools to approach life with greater ease and joy.
TRE® is a simple set of exercises that turns on your body’s natural rebalancing process—providing an immediate experience of relaxation. By releasing everything from everyday stress to deeply held physical tension and trauma, TRE® frees you up to meet life’s challenges with greater skill and ease. Best of all, your body does the work; you get relief without needing to process or retell your story. The exercises work for all body types and are easily adaptable for any fitness level or mobility challenge. Once you’ve learned TRE®, you can practice it independently, and TRE® is a great complement to other practices such as yoga, meditation, and mindfulness.
Yoga Nidra is an ancient deep relaxation practice that calms the nervous system and supports the immune system. Through a simple process of rotating awareness to different areas in the body, the mental chatter decreases, the mind relaxes, and a profound state of stillness can be achieved with very little effort. The practice promotes self-awareness, clear choices, and less reactive communication. We hear the word mindfulness a lot, but Yoga Nidra gives you the direct experience of mindfulness which will trickle into your everyday life. It is a practice that is being used throughout the country, such as in VA hospitals to address PTSD for veterans. Research is already revealing evidence based results for depression, anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain, and addiction.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat, a pillow, two large towels, and water.
