In a city as sprawling as Los Angeles is, it is easy to get lost. Lost in false promises and big dreams, lost in a dead-end job you never thought you’d wind up doing or literally lost in an unfamiliar part of the city. So why not come to Lincoln Heights and find yourself among friends, art, music and fun?
This art show is a platform for the talents of a group of friends living in Los Angeles. They all have ambitions, talent and heart (which may not always be appreciated in the day-to-day grind of their 9-5 jobs). But, it will be proudly displayed at FOUND: LA. Paintings, photographs, drawings, furniture and installations by this collective of a dozen or so artists/friends will come together to create an eclectic environment in which to party for a night. Homemade desserts and snacks can be washed down with wine, beer and good conversation. All money made at the bar the night of the show will benefit Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA), a non-profit providing art education to underserved youth living in Los Angeles. There will also be an auction of prints made by HOLA artists, the money from which will also go back into the arts program.
But what art show would be complete without a dance party at the end? A Soul Train-style dance line to be exact. Guests are encouraged to drop off clothing donations throughout the night. Just before the clock strikes midnight we’ll rummage through the cast-offs to create funky outfits and then dance to some fresh beats like we just don’t care. But leave your crazy outfits at the door before you leave , as all donated clothing will go to the Los Angeles Mission.
Find your way to East L.A. for what will be a night of art, fun, food, drinks and dance amongst friends at the FOUND: LA art show on July 28, 2012.
