Stacy Dawson Stearns curates this season of mojo training for Monday Morning Class at Pieter. These classes are offered with the intention of deepening and complicating the dance, movement, and artistic practices of the participants. Los Angeles takes things to a different level and dance is never just dance. Poetry is never just poetry. Pipes are never pipes. Induce your bodymind to go to the MOJO and get thee to class!
Classes are $15-20 sliding scale, OR you can take advantage of our 12 class pack for $120 and 6 class pack for $70 by paypaling firstname.lastname@example.org (friends&family) and writing “MMCmojo2018 12 pack or MMCmojo2018 6 pack” in the comment line. April 2 // Dana Penenberg// DEEPENING INTO THE UNKNOWN
We will move using somatic techniques and improvisational scores to delve into the internal sensory landscape while expanding outer perception. We will practice rooting into a resilient autonomy while entering states of entanglement with each other. We open sensory awareness through dance composition so we can attempt to explore beyond social limitation, embodied trauma, and habit. We unravel into the present so that we can enter with fearlessness and trust into territory of the unknown in our making process.
Dana Penenberg’s work is rooted in somatic investigation and the search for embodiment in a chronically ill body. She practices Reiki, Body Mind Centering, Kundalini yoga, and Craniosacral therapy. She is influenced by her studies in Emergent Improvisation with Susan Sgorbati. She was greatly inspired by her work with Emma Destrube while assisting the Continuum class. She has been involved with Pieter Space for the past 4 years. She danced for: Jmy James Kidd in “Gateway” at Hauser Wirth and Schimmel in 2016, “Magical Diagonal” at the Los Angeles Theater in 2017, Carol McDowell in “Noetic Gestures” at Highways Performance Space in 2017, Rebecca Brooks in “Sandwich,” and Oguri in “The Distance is Beautiful.” She participated in work by Yunuen Rhi and hosts Bagua workshops and healing sessions in collaboration with her. Most recently, she danced at Miami Art week in Untitled Art Fair in “Stork Phrase Lines up With the Shoreline” by Jamie Felton and Alexsa Durrans. Dana Penenberg graduated from the Bennington College dance program. She has a private practice as a Usui Holy Fire Reiki master and makes Reiki infused prayer candles to hold space for collective healing.
