Nick Duran: EMPTINESS—EMBODIMENT—CRAFT (Part II)
Sunday, Feb 19 2012
12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

With no ideas we tapped the creative wellspring and unveiled spirits, inner demons.
It was a cliffhanger ending. At long last, we will have the satisfaction of a sequel…

PART 2—THE CRAFT

{EMPTINESS—EMBODIMENT—CRAFT}

A WORKSHOP SERIES ON INTUITIVE CHOREOGRAPHIC PRACTICE BY NICK DURAN AT PIETER.

SUNDAY, FEB. 19TH, NOON TO 3PM, $25

“…of opening up, of a promise, of an extension, of a postponement, of a detour, of a repetition, of a substitution, of a representation…existing over space and time.”
Harvey, Irene E. Derrida and the Economy of Différance
______________________________________________

When images and archetypes appear in our dancing, “the other” comes into consciousness. It could be the appearance of something unintended: an unknown voice/ place/ object of the subconscious/ a memory. The emerging phenomena could naturally eclipse the original intent of the choreographer, had there been any intent, or exist together: origin and otherness.

This installation of the workshop will emphasize layering. Like the craft involved in beading a necklace, we will string together all the parts of our emerging dance. Allowing space for simultaneous expression will bring a richness to our work of presence and absence together, of loss and retelling, of representing while creating experience.

Note:
* THE CRAFT is open to first time participants.
* For those who attended the previous workshop, please bring any notes taken or responses gathered.
