Accessibility note: Masks will be provided and required to allow performers to dance unmasked. Projections will be used for the performance, with lights being adjusted during the performance. Some glitching effects in the video footage will be used. Different seating options are available (chairs, floor, cushions) Live-stream will be available.
The space is located on the 2nd floor with one flight of stairs directly up from the entrance. Elevator access is available; please check in with our door-greeter and they will assist with operating the elevator. The elevator is spacious enough for any mobility device and the 2nd floor space is free of any steps or mobility barriers.
There are two all-gender restrooms with three private stalls and a urinal. Each restroom has one mobility device accessible stall. If you have any specific questions or access needs, please email pieterpasd@gmail.com
Parking: Free parking is available directly behind our building at 2412 Workman Street. There are two additional free city lots south of Broadway on Workman Street. There is also ample metered parking in the neighborhood.
Bios: Movement Facilitator & Performer: Vanessa Hernández Cruz Vanessa Hernández Cruz (she, her, ella) is an interdependent Chicana Disabled dance artist, filmmaker, visual artist, poet & an Intersectional Disability Justice activist. She holds her BA in Dance Science from Cal State Long Beach. Over the past six years Vanessa’s work has been shown nationally & internationally. She is currently the recipient of the 2023 California Arts Council x The Center of Cultural Power Artist Disruptor Award. With this award she will expand her current dance work ‘Exhale Static, Inhale Fumes’ that will include more Disabled artist on stage; set to debut in Fall 2024. She had two exciting dance solos that premiered this summer: “Metal, Plastic, Skin” debuting at The Odyssey Theatre’s Dance Festival and “Exhale Static, Inhale Fumes” with her debut at The REDCAT’s NOW Festival. In addition, slated for 2024 Vanessa along with Saira Barbaric & NEVE with the support of a grant from the Mellon Foundation, the three have cofounded Mouthwater Festival, a new Disabled arts festivals happening in Seattle. Movement Collaborator & Performer: Keilan Stafford. Keilan is a dance/movement/performance artist, dj, sound designer, model, actor, educator, meme girl, cyber rat, shapeshifter, and lover of Jesus Christ. Their current interest as a performer/creator lies in exploring common human experiences and sharing these experiences through a surrealist lens. Keilan holds a BFA in dance from California State University, Long Beach and is represented by Wildflowers Agency for commercial and print work. @keilanstaff
Movement Collaborator & Performer: Maya Umemoto Gorman. Maya Umemoto Gorman is a dancer, photographer and creative from Sacramento, California. She’s interested in the celebration of individuality through arts and media, building of community through performance and gallery spaces and her thirty-two house plants. @mayamoto_
