• Pieter Performance Space is located in Lincoln Heights, Los Angeles, on the second floor of a historic brick building constructed in 1911. We offer classes, workshops, events and studio space for body-based practices.

Pieter shares a floor and restrooms with two community-based organizations, Gender Justice LA and Access to Prevention Advocacy Intervention & Treatment (APAIT).

  • Two all-gender restrooms with three private stalls and a urinal are shared with floormates. Each restroom has one stall accessible for mobility device users.

  • Pieter is committed to accessibility for all bodies. The space is located on the 2nd floor, up one flight of stairs or via a password-protected elevator. The dance studio and restrooms are free of steps and other mobility barriers.

Please note that there are no automated doors in the building.

  • Masks are encouraged in common spaces such as the bathrooms, lobby, stairwell, elevator and floormates’ office spaces.

Free KN95 masks, rapid COVID tests, and hand sanitizer are available in the shared hallway.

Renters may determine their own masking and safety protocols while in the dance space.

  • A long-standing Pieter tradition, the Free Boutique is a leave some/take some space located inside the ballroom dance studio.

  • During your rental, enjoy Pieter’s growing library of books and magazines related to dance, somatics, art, philosophy, and politics.

  • Free parking is available directly behind the building at 2412 Workman Street. There are two additional free city lots south of Broadway on Workman Street. There are also free and metered parking spaces throughout the neighborhood.
