Hello to our amazing Pieter community,

As we all are experiencing, 2025 has already been a chaotic and overwhelming year: from the devastating fires across LA, to the executive orders attacking so many in our midst, to the ongoing genocidal violence globally.  

In the face of all of this, it is essential for as many of us as possible to be loud in proclaiming who we are and claiming space - both as individuals and as organizations. So, I am proud to say that Pieter Performance Space is a Black & Queer led space that centers Black people, Trans people, Queer people of all kinds, Disabled people, Immigrants, Indigenous people, People of Color, Sex Workers, Poor people and stands in solidarity with all occupied people in Palestine, Congo, Sudan and across the globe. Pieter is a home for anyone who feels passionate about supporting and uplifting the liberation of these communities. 

Recent federal funding cuts and restrictions are designed to undermine the most vulnerable people in our communities, and that is why it is so important to protect the spaces that we create together. Trump, Musk and the rest of the oligarchy will do what they can to destroy the people we love and the places we gather, so we also need to do our best to build stronger networks of care and support within the Los Angeles Arts culture. 

In early 2023 Pieter moved into a beautiful 4000 square foot historic ballroom in Lincoln Heights. Pieter’s “new” home is fully accessible for those with mobility devices and large enough to host up to 600 people for events and offerings. We are committed to ensuring Pieter remains a home for the surrounding neighborhoods and Pieter’s extended family of creators, healers, organizers, activists and artists. If you feel aligned with our mission and vision, we hope you will come visit, participate in our programming, rent our studio, and support this and other independent arts spaces in LA.
