Description: Join us for a three-part workshop series led by choreographer Becky X exploring the dynamic history and artistry of voguing, a dance form born from Black and Latinx, LGBTQ, poor and sex worker communities. This series offers a chance to delve into the five elements of vogue fem performance and master the art of commanding attention and stage presence by developing unique characters. Drawing on Becky’s decade of experience in the ballroom scene, she'll guide participants in expressing their fiercest selves.

The series is inspired by Rashaad Newsome’s AR monument, Self Inventions. Presented in partnership with LACMA × Snapchat: Monumental Perspectives.

What to bring/expect: Water bottle, knee pads, face towel.

Bio: Becky Peach has been in the ballroom scene since 2015. She is known for walking vogue performance and as a drag artist incorporates vogue in their performances as an expression of their femininity and athleticism, and a way to center herself and clear her mind. Becky has won multiple ballroom grand prizes and appeared on Season 2 of HBO Max’s Legendary.

The space is located on the 2nd floor with one flight of stairs directly up from the entrance. Elevator access is available; please email pieterpasd@gmail.com prior to the event if you will be using it. The elevator is spacious enough for any mobility device and the 2nd floor space is free of any steps or mobility barriers. There are no automated doors in the building. There are two all-gender restrooms with three private stalls and a urinal. Each restroom has one stall accessible for mobility device users.

Parking: Free parking is available directly behind our building at 2412 Workman Street. There are two additional free city lots south of Broadway on Workman Street. There is also ample metered parking in the neighborhood, free after 6pm or 8pm, depending on the street.Have questions or need additional accommodations?
